2 shot charts that explain Wizards LOSS to Orlando

Wizards Newswire

The Wizards lost their 3rd game in a row to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night and the prospect of making it into the post-season feels like it's slowly slipping away.

This was a must-win game for the Wizards against a below .500 team. Washington is now  2.5 games out of play-in spot behind the Indiana Pacers and the Chicago Bulls.

So what adjustments could have been made by the Wizards coaching staff to win this game?

Here's a few...

PLAY DANIEL GAFFORD IN THE 4TH QUARTER

Gafford was incredibly efficient on the offensive end this game shooting 6 for 7 from the field (85.7%). Gafford is the only lob option when any Wizards player is able to penetrate the defense. Gafford did have 4 fouls but in the 4th quarter...WHO CARES!

Defensively the Landlord was solid contributing 1 steal and 2 blocks but here is the real kicker...the Magic went 12 for 16 from the field in the 4th quarter and 7 of those made FGs were in the paint. Check out their shooting start below from Q4. With Gafford in the game the Magic definitely would have had to reconsider going inside.

RUN MORE PLAYS FOR CORY KISPERT

Kispert's performance throughout the month of march has been exceptional averaging over 13 points a game and shooting over 47% from beyond the arc. Kispert is now ranked 13th in the NBA in 3P%.

So let's start to run some plays for this guy and get him some set shots. The highest percentage 3-point shot in basketball is the from the corner...maybe get him a few of those rather than having him force shooting when he is on the move.

Check out his shooting chart below from the game against at the Magic. Two notes:

    1. Not a single shot from the corner.

    2. Three out of his five 3-point attempts were from a few feet beyond the arc...not his strong suit.

Time is running out and if the Wizards coaching staff don't make some changes to their strategy we are gonna lose our shot at the play-offs and if that happens we could end up losing a lot more.
