Here's why the Wizards just signed Jay Huff
Wizards Newswire
Who is Jay Huff and why did the Wizards just sign him?
Today the Washington Wizards signed Jay Huff, a now former G League player from the South Bay Lakers, to a two-way contract per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
During his time with the South Bay Lakers, Huff averaged 15.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in 27.7 minutes across 37 appearances.
In the 2021-2022 season, Huff did play with the Lakers after signing an Exhibit 10 contract. He only played 5 games and never scored a point. Check out his stats below:
There are 2 reasons why the Wizards drafted Jay Huff...
Blocks: Huff is 7'1 and this year alone averaged 3.6 blocks per game for the South Bay Lakers. Last year he averaged 2.4 blocks per game.
Three Pointers: This season, Huff is averaging 40% 3PG. Granted, it's a small sample size with only 14 3s made but we'll take it.
Another plus is that Huff is UVA graduate which should make our Virginia fan base happy and maybe fill few more seats at Capitol One.
