2 players Kispert says he models his game after

Wizards Newswire

On Friday night the Washington Wizards lost to the Orlando Magic 116-109. This loss was by no means un-expected as the Wizards continue to add their starters to the "injury" list in likely hopes that the team will not make the play-in tournament and in-turn land a better spot in the 2023 Draft Lottery. Not a bad strategy at this point.

The big story was Cory Kispert who had a career night with 27 points on on 9/14 from the 3-point line (besides that he really did not do much else honestly).

In the first half of the season Kispert was shooting 41.4% from beyond the arc and averaging 1.8 threes a game. Respectable for sure, but in the second half of the season Kispert has upped his game, increasing his 3-point percentage to 45% and averaging 2.5 threes per game.

Since the Wizards have started to "soft" tank over the last 5 games, Kispert is shooting 51% from three and averaging 4.8 threes per game. I know there is a lot up in the air this offseason for the Wizards but Kispert is one thing fans can feel good about.

In the post-game press on Friday, when asked who he models his game after, Kispert had some pretty unique choices:

"So my favorite player growing up was Ray Allen, my Seattle guy. He had a really good career in Seattle, so I watched him a ton. And then, kind of the modern player would be Klay Thompson. He is the gold standard for what I want to be and if I could get a career half as good as him I'm gonna be around for a long time."
