Weekly Recap
Porzingis and Avdija dominate in surprising win over the Celtics 130-111 (Tuesday)
With Bradley Beal, Kyle Kuzma and Daniel Gafford out for this one, our guys pulled off a very unexpected win against the Celtics. KP led the way with 32 points followed by Deni with a career tying 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The Wizards as a whole shot over 54% from the field and only turned the ball over 9 times (they are averaging 14 turnovers per game this season). The play of the night came from Goodwin and Deni which ranked 6th on the NBA's top 10 plays for Wednesday. Check it out!
Wizards lose to Magic 116-109 despite Kispert's career night (Friday)
This loss was by no means un-expected as the Wizards continued to add starters to the "injury" list. Delon showed up with 21 points as did Gafford with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The big story however was Corey Kispert who had a career night with 27 points on on 9/14 from the 3-point line (more on Corey later on). We found a compilation video of every 3-pointer Kispert made below 👇
Wizards fall to Knicks 118-109 after Kispert's second career night (Sunday)
Well, the Wizards play-in hopes are officially over and this was the game that sealed it. Corey Kispert topped his career high from from Friday night scoring 29 points followed by JOHNNY DAVIS!!! with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Biggest surprise of the night...Taj Gibson had 4 threes 🤯 Where have you been all season Taj? Decent game for the young guys but they still have to learn to take care of the ball in the offseason after committing 18 turnovers.
Who does Corey Kispert model his game after?
First, let's acknowledge how far Kispert has come this season.
In the first half of the season Kispert was shooting 41.4% from beyond the arc and averaging 1.8 threes per game-respectable for sure. In the second half of the season however Kispert dialed it up, increasing his 3-point percentage to 45% and averaging 2.5 threes per game.
Since the Wizards have started too "soft" tank over the last 5 games, Kispert is shooting 51% from three and averaging 4.8 threes per game. For the season, Kispert is ranked 7th in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage with 43%, one spot behind Stephen Curry.
I know there is a lot up in the air this offseason for the Wizards but Kispert is one thing fans can feel good about.
In the post-game presser on Friday, when asked who he models his game after, Kispert had some pretty unique choices...
"So my favorite player growing up was Ray Allen...He had a really good career in Seattle, so I watched him a ton. And then, kind of the modern player would be Klay Thompson. He is the gold standard for what I want to be and if I could get a career half as good as him I'm gonna be around for a long time."
Will KP re-sign with the Wizards?
In a poll for Bullets Forever this Week Kristaps Porzingis was voted the team season MVP. It's no secret that KP has had the best year of his career so far. Here's what he's averaging per game for this season:
23 PPG
2.1 3PM
49.8 FG%
8.4 REB
1.5 BLK
Earlier this week, Shams Charania dropped this 👇

Multiple NBA inside sources indicate that KP will re-sign in Washington. Earlier this year, Eric Pincus from Bleacher Report reported the following:
Other NBA insiders including Marc Stein have reported KP is looking for a long term deal and also "likes his situation in the nations capitol". Let's hope these reports are accurate.
